Bio
Svitlana Poix-Shinkaruk obtained her M. Sc from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine, and Ph. D. from the University of Bordeaux, France. She is specialized in bioorganic chemistry, namely in the total synthesis, analysis and characterization of natural compounds. She joined Bennetau-Pelissero’s team at Bordeaux Sciences Agro in 2001. The team worked on both positive and negative effects of phytoestrogens on Human Health using interdisciplinary approaches, from the development of new analytical tools to clinical studies. The contribution of S. Poix-Shinkaruk was mainly focused on the total synthesis of flavonoids to be used in biological studies. She was also involved in the design and preparation of their functionalized analogues (haptens, bioconjugates) in order to elaborate new bioanalytical methods and chemically modified biosensor surfaces. Since 2006, she also works in the area of wine chemistry, particularly in the identification and chemical synthesis of aroma compounds and their precursors. In 2017 she moved to the Oenology Research Unit in order to center her research activities on the molecular characterization of wine.
