In 2020, the students of the viticulture-oenology specialization of Bordeaux Sciences Agro carried out a professional project at the Bodega Bodem of the Cariñena appellation in Spain.
During the project, they had carried out a soil, climatic and viticultural study, with the aim of selecting plots with high quality potential. The objective of the Bodega is to create parcel cuvées for a better valorization of the production.
The study motivated Luis Geirnaerdt, the owners’son, to take a Bachelor’s degree in viticulture and enology at Bordeaux Sciences Agro. On March 23 and 24, 2022, Elisa Marguerit and Kees van Leeuwen went on site to follow the progress of the project. Luis is now the cultivation manager of the property and implements the skills acquired in the Bachelor with great passion. In 2021, the selected plots were vinified separately. A tasting of the batches validated the relevance of the parcel selection carried out by Bordeaux Sciences Agro. It is a great satisfaction for the students and their teachers to see that this study has given such a concrete and operational result.
