Agroecology and Resource Management

Agroecology, a framework for agricultural production system transitions

Description

AGROGER trains agronomists specialising in sustainable crop production.

The teaching builds on the combination of agronomy, plant health and ecology. The coursework covers different scales of study, ranging from the plot (agronomic diagnostics, plant health, plant uptake of water and minerals, soil maintenance, functional biodiversity) and farm (innovative cropping system design, analysis of plant value chains) to the landscape (agroecology management plans) and production basins (value chain approach, material flow analysis, biomonitoring networks). Innovation in agronomy, which underlies all work in the specialisation, is explicitly covered at the end of the course in order to make our future engineers more effective in transmitting know-how to the various stakeholders in the agricultural world.
