Scientific congress

On November 26 and 27, 2026, the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences (ISVV) will host an international conference in Talence titled “Future Challenges for Grapevine and Wine Research.”

This event will bring together international experts, researchers, and professionals to discuss the major scientific challenges and developments in the wine industry.

Designed as a true international think tank, this conference aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, stimulate innovation, and foster new partnerships between researchers and industry professionals. Discussions will center on several major themes: climate change and environmental stresses, the resilience and sustainability of viticulture, genetics and grapevine breeding, innovations in oenology, and evolving consumer and market preferences.

The program includes: plenary sessions, roundtables, and opportunities for discussion with the public, bringing together specialists from universities, research institutes, and companies in the sector from around the world. These discussions will help identify priority issues and research directions to support the sector’s transformation.

Following the conference, a summary of the key findings and future scientific challenges will be prepared for publication in an international journal. This initiative contributes to the scientific reputation of the Bordeaux region and to the advancement of knowledge for the future of viticulture and wine.
