Housing Applications
International students starting their program for the first year are given priority in the allocation of housing. However, accommodation will be allocated on a space-available basis. Completing the form does not guarantee you a place in Bordeaux Sciences Agro’s houses of residence. Only the confirmation e-mail you receive from the Accommodation Department will confirm that you have been allocated a place.
Further information
Network
The housing units have network outlets allowing access to Bordeaux Sciences Agro’s IT resources and the Digital Workspace. Internet access is possible through an Internet Service Provider. Bordeaux Sciences Agro has signed an agreement with the WiFirst company; WiFirst offers WiFi at preferential rates without time commitments. You can create an account (using the library’s wifi for example).
Rent subsidy
The Caisse d’Allocations Familiales (CAF) provides student with financial aid to pay rent. This rent subsidy, called the ‘Aide personnalisée au logement’ (APL, social housing grant) varies according to the type of housing and individuals’ financial resources. You can apply for this allowance online. For non-EU students, you will need a residence permit that is valid for over 3 months.
Property insurance
Personal insurance is obligatory no matter your accommodation, whether you are staying with a friend or renting in the private sector. The insurance amount varies (between €30 and €70 per annum) depending on the size of the apartment, the number of rooms and the risks insured (fire, theft, water damage, civil liability, damage to adjacent buildings…).
