Economics of agricultural cooperatives
Description
SAD-APT is a joint research unit of Université Paris Saclay, INRAE and AgroParisTech, bringing together some fifty researchers and teacher-researchers in the social sciences and biotechnology.
The laboratory has set itself the task of producing knowledge on socio-ecological systems, paying particular attention to the interactions between agriculture, the environment and food at different levels of organisation (farm, territory, sector); of informing the decisions of public and private players to develop social and technical innovations that strengthen the sustainability of agriculture; of contributing to the structuring of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research within the Université Paris-Saclay.
The unit’s ambition is to advance knowledge on how agri-food systems can adapt to global change and reduce their impact on natural resources. This ambition is reflected in the unit’s scientific objectives. Research is primarily aimed at understanding the socio-economic processes underlying the transition of rural and peri-urban areas towards sustainable development. The Unit is also carrying out work to analyse the technical and economic levers for the transition of farms and regions. Finally, the Unit is seeking to increase knowledge of technical systems for urban agriculture, their role in rural and peri-urban areas and their impact on the environment.
