Bordeaux Sciences Agro awarded the DDRS Label for two years!

Campus

Bordeaux Sciences Agro has been awarded the Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility (DDRS) label for two years — a recognition of its long-standing commitment to ecological transition, campus sustainability and student well-being.

The Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility label has just been awarded to Bordeaux Sciences Agro for a period of 2 years by the labelling committee. This label is the culmination of several years of work, involvement and commitment on the part of our communities to promote agro-ecological transitions, the exemplary nature of our campus and the quality of life and study. This label is a commitment for us. Our sustainable development, social and environmental responsibility master plan sets out our course and commitments up to 2027, and we will be attentive to the recommendations of the labelling committee as we pursue our efforts.

What is the Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Label?

Created in 2009 by those involved in sustainable development in higher education and research, the DDRS standards help establishments to build their sustainable development approach. The DDRS label was created in 2015 as a follow-up to these standards. It is the result of the collective work of a dozen universities and grandes écoles, the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE), the Conférence des Présidents d’Université (CPU), the Ministry for Sustainable Development, the Ministry for Higher Education and the Réseau des Étudiants pour une société écologique et solidaire (RESES). The label is operated by the Collectif pour l’Intégration de la Responsabilité Sociétale et du développement durable dans l’Enseignement Supérieur (CIRSES).

The Label covers all 17 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is structured around five strategic areas, which cover almost all of the school’s activities:

  • Strategy and governance ;
  • Education and training ;
  • Research and innovation ;
  • Environmental management ;
  • Social policy.

This reference framework is organised around 18 strategic variables, which are broken down into 55 operational variables. Since 2023, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research has been encouraging higher education institutions to apply for the DDRS label.

The labelling committee is made up of a group of peers (auditors from labelled establishments) and representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Ministry for Ecological Transition, France Universités, the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, CIRSES and RESES.
