“It only takes me 5 minutes to get from my room to my class”

Agricultural engineering

Bordeaux Sciences Agro is an agricultural engineering school based in Bordeaux. Many international students come from all over the world, for double degree programs, Erasmus+ mobility, the Bachelor Viticulture and Enology or the Master of Science Vineyard and Winery Management… Discover some of them in pictures. In a few words, they describe their backgrounds, experiences and impressions… What’s it like to be an international student at Bordeaux Sciences Agro?

My name is Simone, I’m from Southern Germany, from Munich. I am 21 years old and I’m here for an Erasmus semester, following second year of engineer program. I have been here for about 7 weeks now, and so far it’s very good, yes.

I’m doing my bachelor’s degree in agriculture in Munich. I’m a student from the Technical University in Munich and, there I’m in the fifth semester. I hope that next semester I can finish my studies with my bachelor’s thesis.

I did a lot of research before choosing, and I looked into many schools which are partners of my home university, and well I saw that in France, universities prefer to have Erasmus students who are already in masters and not in the license. Honestly there were not many universities only in Bordeaux and I think maybe Angers or Rennes offering for bachelor… So I decided to come here because I think Bordeaux is a beautiful city and also I preferred Bordeaux to Paris, because I think Paris is a little too big with too many people.

Yes I like it very much! In fact everything is very different from Munich, where I have to commute from home to the university everyday for one hour and a half. Only one trip, so three hours roundtrip each day. Here, by example, I live on the campus and it’s only 5 minutes for my room to the classrooms. It’s so good, because we can sleep a little longer! I also the student universitary life is very interesting, it’s very committed I think towards foreign students: we have “godfathers“, and “godmothers“ and it’s very good, I think, for international students
