Bordeaux Sciences Agro is an agricultural engineering school based in Bordeaux. In a few words, they describe their backgrounds, experiences and impressions… What’s it like to be an international student at Bordeaux Sciences Agro?
I’m Rihane Ognik, from The Netherlands. I arrived here two months ago, so quite recently. I was a sommelier, so I worked in a restaurant and we served all the wines, all the beautiful wines that have been made in regions like Bordeaux, so for me it was kind of a good opportunity to get into the viticultural side of the wine business, I guess.
Well this is because it’s like the most renowned one in in terms of Viticulture and Enology. Someone told me about it, and it just got stuck in my head. One of the professors, Kees van Leeuwen and Mark Greven, they are both Dutch, so that made it easy to connect. It’s only 12 hours driving from Amsterdam, so it’s like far from home, but close too.
I like it a lot! Just the professors are amazing and the internship was super super nice to really deep dive for a short period into the wine business. I love friends, I love Bordeaux, it’s a lively city. I am trying to learn French, but uh we’ll see how that will work out, but I hope so!
